It’s that time of the year again! Time for the Turtle Boy Urban Gardeners to put on their capes and get some weeding done!
Meet up for the first 2012 TBUG Weed Up!
Date: May 28, 2012, Monday
Time: 10:00 am
Place: Turtle Boy statue, intersection of Franklin and Front Streets, Worcester MA
Spring has sprung and so have the weeds around Turtle Boy. If we get enough volunteers we’d also like to get some fresh plants in the ground.
Bring your fine self, some sun block, water, garden gloves, and if you have a spare bag of black mulch that would be pretty awesome! Sprout will bring some tools, more garden gloves for those without, and plants if we get enough replies in the affirmative.
Turtle Boy turns 100 this year, so we’d like to keep him looking good for an old man! We’ll have you out in plenty of time for those Memorial Day BBQ’s.
Rain date: Sunday June 10, 2012.

Time to put the Turtle Boy garden to bed for the winter! Come on down and give us a hand pulling out the annuals and do a final weeding. Please wear closed toe shoes. Some tools and gloves available, but feel free to bring your own.
We’d also like to gather for a little brainstorming session for 100th birthday ideas for Turtle Boy immediately afterwards. Location TDB by general consensus of the attending interested parties.
Rain date: October 23rd.
Soooo…that free compost we got from the City? Not so composted. It’s loaded with weed seeds and now we have a whole new weed problem that needs attention. 🙁
Thinking we might need to plan to meet monthly to keep the weeds under control or pretty soon all of our great gardening efforts will be for naught.
Hope you can come out and give us a hand!

We’d love it if loving Turtle Boy was free but, unfortunately, it isn’t. Last year we had very generous help from Kate Toomey. This year, we’ve been included to Park Spirit which makes it possible for us to accept donations for the ongoing care of Turtle Boy and (hopefully) larger maintenance projects.
We wanted to share how much was spent on the Turtle Boy garden this year:
Total – $737.63
